An independent board of inquiry has begun considering a complaint of discrimination on the basis of sex/gender and disability. Amanda Emoff claims Tim Hortons in Springhill demoted her from supervisor to cashier. She alleges the demotion was because of time missed from work when she was on sick leave for medical conditions related to her pregnancy. The hearing started today, June 23, and will continue Wednesday, June 24, at 9:30 a.m. in the 2nd floor, Education Seminar Room, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, 1723 Hollis St., Halifax. The board of inquiry will be chaired by Cynthia Chewter. Boards of inquiry are the final stage in the human rights complaint process. They are independent, public hearings into complaints of discrimination.
