Intro music helps your work register as more professional. It catches your viewers’ attention and tells them it’s time to settle in.But the most important benefit of intro music involves storytelling: the music you lead with provides one of the very first hints about the narrative experience you’re sharing. Visionary director David Lynch explains it best:The sound, picture, and ideas have to marry. If an idea carries with it a mood, sound is critical to making that mood.Image via ImageBySutipond. What do the musings of a surrealist auteur have to do with your next two-minute video game review clip? Everything. Specifically the part about “making the mood,” which is just a Lynchian way of saying “pick the right intro music.” You’ve got to ask yourself how your intro music supports what’s about to unfold on the screen. How do you want your viewer to feel? What mood will you create in your video’s opening moments to ensure you hook your audience? When it comes time to choose your intro music, there are a couple of approaches you can take. The first is dropping an audio logo into the opening of your clip. These short, snappy tunes can act as your aural signature, and they’re concise and catchy enough to instantly lodge themselves into your viewer’s head.Image via Jacob Lund. You can explore the second approach in the curated royalty free intro music playlist below. These tracks are longer and offer more use cases, as each comes with loops and short clips. That means you can find your intro music and soundtrack within a single song.Plus, with a $49 Standard License, you can use one track in as many of your videos as you want. (Pro tip: Maintaining the same intro music across a series of videos is top-notch branding.) Just remember: conventional wisdom suggests that GoPro footage from the helmet of a motocross racer demands extreme music, and softly lit yoga footage calls for something with a little more pan flute. While YouTube is crowded with videos that trot out these genre tropes, your video doesn’t have to. Treat the act of selecting your intro music as one more chance to push yourself creatively by marrying sound, picture, and idea in an unexpected way.
Around 7000 athletes and officials including close to 600 Indians would take part in next month’s Commonwealth Games here, making it the biggest in the history of the quadrennial sporting extravaganza in terms of participation. The October 3-14 mega-event is all set to break the record of 2006 Melbourne Games, where approximately 5,800 athletes and team officials were in attendance, Organising Committee said today.”We are delighted to announce that Delhi 2010 is set to become the largest ever Commonwealth Games in terms of participation and we are confident that it will be conducted smoothly,” OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot told a press conference.”After September 3, which was the last date of receiving entries from the participating countries, we have got around 7000 entries. This number is likely to go up as Commonwealth Games Federation has a policy for accepting late entries and there are many requests,” he added. However, Bhanot denied to reveal name of any participant.”Importantly, there are many World, Olympic, Commonwealth Games and continental champions among the participants. We are sure that paying spectators and the TV audiences across the world will enjoy watching these athletes perform in the world class facilities created here,” Bhanot said.”But according to CGF policy we can’t reveal the names of the athletes. The total number will be finalised only after Delegation Registration Meeting, which is scheduled to be held here from September 16-October 2,” he added.Hosts India will field the biggest contingent of more than 600 athletes and team officials while Botswana will be the smallest with less than five athletes and officials.advertisementThe other countries and territories who are sending big contingents, include Australia (550), England (525), Canada (400), New Zealand (325), Malaysia (325), Scotland (300) and Wales (240). The Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has been floored by the Indian youngsters who have taken their game a notch higher this Indian Premier League 2017 season.Shreyas Iyer, who was unfortunate to miss out on a hundred, scored a breathtaking 96 off 57 to guide Delhi Daredevils to a two-wicket win over Gujarat Lions in a close contest.Iyer became the fourth Indian youngster to come close to scoring a hundred after Manan Vohra, Rahul Tripathi and Rishabh Pant. However, Sanju Samson, another budding cricketer, was the first to reach the three-figure mark this season when he struck 102 against Rising Pune Supergiantr. Young Samson has been the lone Indian to slam a century in IPL this year.Chasing 196 for a win, Delhi Daredevils rode on Iyer’s magnificent knock to register a win in an inconsequential match. Delhi kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were tottering at 121/6 before Iyer and Australian Pat Cummins’ cameo (24 of 13 balls) stitched together a crucial 61-run stand for the seventh wicket to give the visitors victory.Tendulkar, who also slammed a century in his IPL career, took to twitter to praise Iyer and the young Indian talent saying, “Magnificent innings by #ShreyasIyer last night. (Reuters Photo)HIGHLIGHTSMiddle-order batsman Rayudu last week announced his retirement from all forms of cricketYograj Singh has asked Ambati Rayudu to come out of retirement and prove a pointYograj said people like Dhoni won’t be around for long to spread filthFormer India pacer Yograj Singh, father of 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj, has asked Ambati Rayudu to come out of retirement and prove a point, adding “filthy” people like M.S. Dhoni won’t be around forever.Middle-order batsman Rayudu last week announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.Rayudu was not included in the 15-member squad for the ongoing World Cup. Despite being named in the reserves, he was not called up in the squad after Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar suffered injuries and Rishabh Pant and Mayank Agarwal were, instead, named as their replacements. After he again missed a spot in India’s World Cup team, Iceland Cricket in a bizarre tweet on Tuesday, offered the 33-year-old permanent residency in their country so that he could play for them. After his initial World Cup snub, Rayudu had expressed his displeasure and also questioned the selectors’ decision to pick Shankar over him with a tweet that mocked a statement by head selector M.S.K. Prasad who had said that “Vijay Shankar gives three dimensions” to the team.”Rayudu should’ve continued playing, more and more. He should’ve played Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy, Duleep Trophy, scoring 100s, 200s, 300s with not outs. He still has a lot of cricket left in him,” Yograj was quoted as saying by NNIS Sports.”Rayudu, my son you took the decision in haste. Come out of retirement and show them what you are capable of,” the 61-year- old, who has played one Test and six ODIs for India, said.advertisementTalking about how former India captain Sourav Ganguly gave youngsters a chance, Yograj, who has often criticized Dhoni, said people like him won’t be around for long to spread filth.”People like MS Dhoni will not remain forever, filth like these will not remain forever,” he added. Also Read | India vs New Zealand World Cup 2019 1st Semi-final: What happens on reserve day? Also See:For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. Bruce Pitt-Payne is a former Mountie who teaches interviewing techniques. (Submitted photo)Kathleen MartensAPTN NewsA former RCMP trainer and interviewing expert says the 2012 interrogation of an Indigenous teenager broadcast by APTN News this week is “archaic, counter-productive and embarrassing.”Bruce Pitt-Payne, who retired from the force in B.C. after 21 years, said the accusatory approach used by the Kelowna Mountie “should never have happened.”“I trained B.C. RCMP officers from 2010-2015,” he said in a telephone interview from Maple Ridge, B.C., where he runs PlayFair Investigative Consulting & Training Services.“I don’t know if I trained this fella.”The video clip has outraged viewers across the country – especially women – who expressed anger on social media at the treatment of an under-age minor disclosing an alleged sexual assault. The damning video was obtained by APTN as part of a court case the now-adult woman’s lawyer has filed against the B.C. child welfare system.APTN asked Pitt-Payne to analyse the nearly minute-long excerpt of a longer interview.“From the scarce material I saw on the internet that appears to be the same type of interview that you would do on a suspect and we don’t even do that anymore,” he said.“We changed in 2015.”Pitt-Payne said the teen was a vulnerable witness who deserved empathy, understanding and compassion.“It’s bias. It’s absolute bias,” he said, asking to see more of the video.“He’d already made up his mind and just wanted her to say what he wanted to hear to conclude that file.”APTN is preparing to release additional segments in the coming days.B.C.’s Minister of Children and Family Development was equally offended by what she saw.“The video is sickening and horrible,” Katrine Conroy (NDP-Kootenay West) said in a statement emailed to APTN.“Women, especially Indigenous women and girls, face many barriers in reporting sexual violence. We must do everything possible to reduce those barriers and protect survivors of sexual violence.”(B.C.’s Minister of Children and Family Development Katrine Conroy. Submitted photo).Conroy, who was not made available for an interview, said her government was discussing how best to support survivors of sexual violence. But didn’t promise any action.“Our government firmly believes when people come forward to report sexual violence, especially young people and Indigenous peoples, they must feel safe and be supported,” she said.“That’s our expectation.”Federal Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale, who is the minister responsible for the RCMP, said “the apparent attitudes and techniques that were on display in 2012 are profoundly outdated, offensive and wrong.”His office noted major improvements have been made since then. But the RCMP declined to make Commissioner Brenda Lucki available to elaborate in an interview Thursday, citing the video’s role in a court case.During a two-and-a-half hour interrogation, the officer asks the youth if she was “at all turned on” during the alleged assault. “Even a little bit?“You understand that when a guy tries to have sex with a female and the female is completely unwilling it is very difficult,” he added.Pitt-Payne said that was the wrong approach.“It’s systemic in that people do not understand what real memory and real witnesses look like,” he said.“We work to get the best information – meaning complete and reliable – while also considering the well-being of the person being interviewed.”Pitt-Payne expressed concern the video would deter witnesses and victims from coming forward in the future. He said, at the very least, the display should trigger a code of conduct investigation.“They went in with tunnel vision and they achieved a self-fulfilling prophecy.”He said a mentor or supervisor should be watching to correct members and reinforce appropriate skills.“Someone to say, ‘Woah, you don’t do that. Let’s plan it out. Go in and ask her what happened. See what you’re going to get from her first.’ Don’t ever go for your agenda first.”No criminal charges were laid as a result of the woman’s complaint. email@example.com@katmarte read more

The planned disruption threatened to bring chaos to Heathrow Two women and a man, who have not yet been named, were also arrested in Highgate, north London. The “pre-emptive” arrests came just hours before protesters from an Extinction Rebellion splinter group called Heathrow Pause had threatened to bring disruption and chaos to the airport. The campaign, which comes in the wake of a series of high profile environmental protests involving Extinction Rebellion, was aimed at pointing out the damage caused by increasing carbon emissions from aircraft and dangers of allowing airport expansion. Five people, including the founder of environmental group, Extinction Rebellion, have been arrested, ahead of planned protests that had threatened to bring disruption to Heathrow Airport.Roger Hallam and fellow campaigner, Mike Lynch-White, were among three men and two women who were held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a public nuisance. The five people arrested were suspected of planning to fly drones around Britain’s busiest airport on Friday as part of a planned illegal protest to highlight the environmental damage associated with the airline industry.Mr Hallam and Mr Lynch-White had been conducting an interview with journalists in east London, when officers from the Metropolitan Police arrived and arrested them.According to witnesses the police arrived in four cars and after arresting Mr Hallam and Mr Lynch-White, took them away in handcuffs. The protest threatened to bring complete chaos to Heathrow, potentially endangering flights and grounding thousands of passengers. It was also planned to comes just days after tens of thousands of British Airways passengers were affected by a two day pilots’ strike. On Wednesday, Scotland Yard warned protesters who were caught flying drones inside a 5km exclusion zone around the airport that they would face the “full force of the law”. Speaking after the arrests, Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor said: “We have carried out these arrests today in response to proposed plans for illegal drone use near Heathrow Airport which protest group Heathrow Pause have said will take place on Friday morning.”Our policing plan is aimed at preventing criminal activity which poses a significant safety and security risk to the airport, and the thousands of passengers that will be using it.”We have warned previously that arrests would be made if this activity continued.”In these circumstances, we believe these arrests to be a proportionate response to preventing criminal activity that could significantly impact on a major piece of national infrastructure.”We remain fully prepared for the planned protest tomorrow, and will work quickly to identify criminal activity and arrest anyone committing offences.” Want the best of The Telegraph direct to your email and WhatsApp?
